Vocal Technique and Student Info
Missy’s teaching style has its roots in vocal therapy, which centers on the belief that finding your best tone begins with unlocking muscle tension. The natural by-product of a relaxed body is a fuller sound. This applies to singing as well as playing instruments!
Missy is a member of IVTOM (International Voice Teachers of Mix) since 2022. She is known for creating a positive environment that centers around the individual needs of her students. Some of her more wellknown students include Johnny 3 Tears of The Hollywood Undead, Aly Dellinger of Flummox, pageant winner Morgan Abel (Miss Indiana 2016), Tommy Mitchel from America’s Got Talent, and singer/songwriter Iliad Stone and YouTuber Michael Palmisano.
Writing, and Performing Career
After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Missy stayed on to teach and perform in the New England area until a US-wide tour led to her relocation in Nashville, TN in 2007.
Missy's music and performances have always been reminiscent of Bonnie Raitt and influenced by soulful frontmen Steven Tyler, Robert Plant, and Janis Joplin. Some career highlights include performing the National Anthem live at the Boston Garden, performing her original songs at the San Diego Indie Music Festival, and playing guitar for country artist Katie Armiger’s US tour. Missy’s songs have been featured on placements in TV & film (Mercury, Wouldn't You Like to Know, Tumbleweed, ABC’s Witches of Eastwick, and the feature film Being Sixteen). Missy continues to write and record periodically with Mike Webb (Poco, John Fogerty, Chris Stapleton), with whom she recorded fan favorite 'Boston to Austin'.
Currently, Missy can be seen at local Nashville venues performing with various musicians and is known to be a highly sought-after vocal instructor in town for both up-and-coming young talent and seasoned musicians alike.
