Student Progress Spotlight: Kate

When thinking about taking vocal lessons, people often wonder what progress can actually look like. Recently, I received an updated video with a recent performance from my student, Kate (further down). The first video was taken in the spring of 2022. You can hear that Kate has always had a lovely voice. She’s never been afraid to project her voice (SO IMPORTANT TO PROJECT YOUR VOICE, SINGERS!) which you can particularly hear in the higher parts of this first video. In this first video, however, she is pushing more to achieve the sounds she wants. Notice, in the second video- taken more than a year later- that her vibrato is flowing more freely, she has a brighter more resonant sound and more breath control! One of our goals as singers is to be able to belt out songs without all the effort! In order to sing full throttle night after night- which you will do on tour or in a theater production, you need to maximize your resonance without clamping down on your throat. You can hear the improvement right here. If you’re ready to take your voice to the next level, click HERE
